Tenley Hardin
AMFT
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist #130074
Tenley Hardin, MA, AMFT, and Certified Professional Life Coach, is a holistic and humanistic therapist, integrating Somatic, Internal Family Systems, Narrative, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
SPECIALIZES IN : Fertility, Type-A Individuals, Postpartum, Anxiety + Depression, Grief
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING : Individuals, Adolescents, Couples, and Families Virtually
-
Specialized Experience
Tenley holds a Bachelor of Theatre Arts from the University of Michigan (2001); a Master of Arts in English; and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belmont University (2005). After 17 years in education, 10 of which she was a life coach for teenagers, she wanted to reach a broader base of clients and attained a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University (2021). Instead of a "top down" approach to therapy, which consists of mainly talking and cognitive processing, Tenley facilitates the connection between mind and body, so that clients can access their most centered self and respond from a more calm, curious, and balanced state of mind.
Philosophy of Care
Tenley believes that true care and healing occur when there is not only a strong trust between client and therapist, but also when clients feel safe enough to explore the “inner work.” In doing so, they can connect patterns of behavior to old wounds, discover how to release these wounds, and ultimately, create new patterns and neuro-pathways. Tenley helps clients examine their families of origin and any unhealed trauma; explore the parts of themselves that become activated and dominant (i.e. depression, anxiety, etc.); and empower them to create a new narrative, so that they may live with greater joy, purpose, and passion.
Beyond the Office
Tenley is forever looking for ways to nurture, heal, encourage, and motivate. And when all else fails, you may find her either dancing in the kitchen with her kids; reading books about the brain; sweating and breathing it out on her yoga mat; or belting out Pat Benatar hits on her guitar.
